The Merciful Obtain Mercy
- Growing Concern of all members and even the world
- Virtue of the word of God has more effect than anything else
- Cain was the first to have envy and hate, murdering his own brother.
- Everyone has been touched by the effect of contention,... , revenge
- It is easy to judge others in order to justify our dark motives
- We all depend on the Savior, his infinite eternal Atonement

- Though we cannot look into a person’s heart we assume that we know a bad person.
- Those that pass judgement on others are inexcusable.
- Refusing to forgive is a grievous sin
- “I the Lord will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men” (Doctrine & Covenants 64:10)
- Includes forgiving ourselves.
- “Stop it” Stop judging others, and replace judgmental thoughts and feelings with a heart full of love
- “Don’t judge me because I sin different than you” (bumper sticker)
- We all depend on the mercy of God
- Should we not forgive as we wish to be forgiven?
- Forgiving ourselves and others is not easy. For most of us it requires a major adjustment in our attitude and way of thinking. Even a change of heart.
- “Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world” (John 5:4)
- The more we allow the love of God to govern our emotions... the easier it is to love others.
- “It is easy to love those that love us” (Luke 6:32)
- “Love your enemies, bless those that curse you” (Matt 5:44)
- Self test
- Do you harbor a grudge against someone else?
- Do you gossip (even when what you say might be true)?
- Do you exclude or push away others because of something they have done?
- Do you secretly envy another?
- Do you wish to cause harm to someone?
- STOP IT
- “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone” (John 8:7)
- Let us do good unto all men.
- Let us return good for evil
- “Vengeance is mine”
- In the end, it is the merciful who obtain mercy
- We must let go of our grievances.
- Heaven is filled with those who are forgiven and who forgive
